Kanthimathie (Kantha) Rattay is a commercial lawyer who has over 20 years legal experience, in the areas of project finance and PPPs. Kantha holds a Masters of Laws degree from Georgetown University, Washington, D.C and has worked in SA, the UK and the US. In 2009 Kantha established KR Consulting as s a niche consulting firm and provides service in mergers and acquisitions and project finance arena, both locally and internationally.
Prior to establishing KR Consulting Kantha was a partner at White & Case LLP, an international law firm and was based in the firm’s Johannesburg office for over 12 years.
She is an expert in her field has been integrally involved in most of the groundbreaking PPP projects in SADC including setting up the regulatory and contractual frameworks for South Africa and Botswana. She was one of key drafters of the Standardized Contract for PPPs is South Africa published by National Treasury. Kantha regularly speaks at PPP seminars and conferences and has actively participated in PPP workshops, training and conferences around the globe including Namibian, Zambia, Botswana, Fiji and India. Kantha brings international experience and has advised clients including national and provincial governments as well as private sector clients, both local and international across various sectors including roads, rails, ports, health, accommodation, tourism, power including renewable energy and other infrastructure projects.
