Mr. Samson Tokpah was appointed Head of Secretariat of the Liberia Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (LEITI) on December 1, 2011, based on evaluation and recommendations from a recruitment committee comprising the Catholic Archdiocese of Liberia, Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission, General Auditing Commission, Firestone Allied Workers Union, and a former LEITI Head of the Secretariat.
Mr. Tokpah assumed this responsibility with more than twenty (20) years of background and experience in operations improvement, NGO operations, financial management, banking, and academia.
Up to his appointment he served as Senior Budget/Financial Analyst at the Novant Medical Group in Charlotte, North Carolina where he coordinated budget reporting and analyses for close to $1b in revenue, developed operational scorecards; and other financial analyses to include cash flow projections, Full Time Employee (FTE), cost structure, and overhead allocation. He is credited for automated several reporting templates.
Earlier, he worked as Operations Improvement Specialist (Management Associate) at the Carolinas Healthcare Systems in Charlotte, NC. In this role, he was directly responsible for benchmarking a wide range of operational and financial indicators for nearly 200 departments across four hospitals.
Between 2001 and 2011 he served as Instructor of Economics at the Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Prior to pursuing graduate studies, under the sponsorship of the World Bank, Mr. Tokpah worked as a banker with the Liberian Bank for Development and Investment.
He holds a Bachelor’s of Science (BSc.) in Economics (Magna Cum Laude) from the University of Liberia, a Masters of Business Administration (MBA-Finance), and a Masters of Arts in Economics from Kent State University, Ohio.
He is Six – Sigma certified.
