Stephen E. Haggerty
Stephen E. Haggerty is a Distinguished Research Professor in the Dept. of Earth Sciences, Florida International University, Miami, and Emeritus Professor at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. A graduate of the Royal School of Mines, Imperial College, Univ. of London, he is a Fellow of the Geological Society of America, Mineralogical Society of America, American Geophysical Union, Carnegie Institution of Science, and a Fulbright Scholar. He has published extensively on magnetic mineralogy, lunar samples, meteorites, and diamondiferous rocks from around the world. He has described and named five new minerals in kimberlites and carbonatites, armalcolite from the moon, and has been honored by Haggertyite [a barium titanate] a new mineral discovered by Dr. Daniel Velde and colleagues (Univ. of Paris) from the Murfreesboro kimberlite in Arkansas. He is Chief Geologist of YDMC (Liberia), and serves on the board of directors of several junior mining companies.
