Peter Oldacre is currently the CEO of Graysmaker (Pty) Ltd, a niche investment and advisory firm with a focus on renewables, water and agricultural infrastructure operating out of South Africa. Peter established GM in 2016 with an investment of R465 million, after having spent 4 years as the senior executive at Skypower Global, the Worlds’ largest solar energy developer and an Independent Power Producer in wind and solar. For Skypower, Peter originated and developed 8 large scale solar projects in Africa and 7 in India, which resulted in 5 PPAs and 5 projects being commissioned. Peter has worked in the energy and infrastructure sector in South Africa, Namibia and 17 other countries on the continent as-well as the United States, Europe and the UK, Mexico and SE Asia.
Formally educated in the Sciences and the Financial sectors, Peter holds an undergraduate degree in Science, a postgraduate degree in commerce and business from Stellenbosch, is a final year student for his MBA at the Henley School of Business and holds post graduate qualifications in mathematical derivative modelling and investment management. Professionally Peter is affiliated with the Chartered Institute of Alternative Investments (CAIA) and the South African Institute for Financial Markets (SAIFM).
Peter has a 20-year hands on track record of infrastructure asset management from project ideation and project origination through the full cycle of project development, permitting, legal and technical development, both debt and equity funding and bankable commercial development, through engineering, procurement and construction, operations and maintenance and asset management and final investment exit.
