Biography

Admassu Tadesse is the President and Chief Executive of TDB, that is the Trade and Development Bank (formerly known as PTA Bank). He joined in 2012.

The Bank, which is specialized in trade, corporate and project finance, has international assets of about 5.2 billion USD, and covers 20 countries from Egypt to Mozambique and Swaziland. It has some 32 shareholders, both sovereigns and financial institutions, including the African Development Bank, the Central Bank of China, OFID of OPEC and several pension funds.

TDB is an investment-grade rated and leading financial institution in the region. It has enjoyed several ratings upgrades over the past five years, on the back of deep reforms, rapid growth and improved asset quality. Its capital and funding has increased by some 400% since 2012, and become among the highest rated specialist banks in Africa.

Previously, Mr. Tadesse was Ex/VP at the DBSA in South Africa, responsible for international finance and corporate strategy, where he served for 10 years. Prior, he worked as a senior advisor and specialist, with various funds and international organizations. Mr. Tadesse holds an MSc from the London School of Economics, and an MBA from WBS. He is also an alumnus of Harvard Business School and trained at INSEAD and the University of Western Ontario.
