Norbert is a Private Equity veteran, having worked in the industry since 1987 when first Private Equity and Venture Capital funds were raised in Germany. He is a well respected and successful member of the German Private Equity community. He is Co-founder of Moravia Capital AG, an investment banking boutique, and Moravia Capital Investments, a fully Independent, partner-owned Investment boutique with offices in Munich, Mumbai and Luxembourg. MCI advises smaller institutions, pension funds and family offices in finding the right approach and (customized) solutions for their Private Equity portfolio.
As Director of Deutsche Handelsbank, an investment bank, Norbert was responsible for Private Equity and Corporate Finance. He started his career as Investment Manager at the Matuschka Group, Germany’s first Private Equity firm investing into MBO-, Venture Capital- and Fund-of-Funds. Throughout his career, Norbert has gained substantial experience in negotiating, structuring and closing mid-cap deals, including spin-offs, MBOs and MBIs, IPOs and public take-overs, mergers as well as restructuring. He has been on the Supervisory Board of several companies, co-founded and managed Odewald Hammermann & Stelzer (now Odewald & Compagnie), at the time the largest independent Private Equity fund in Germany.
Before 1987, Norbert had worked at Ernst & Young in Boston and Munich, where his assignments included audits, company valuations and advisory work involving acquisitions and divestitures of German mid-cap companies. While at Ernst & Young, Norbert also qualified as a Certified Public Accountant (USA) and as Wirtschaftsprüfer and Steuerberater (German chartered accountant and tax advisor). He holds a business degree from Ludwig-Maximilians-University in Munich and a MBA from Kansas State University (USA).
