Senegal: The Hub of the Booming West African Mining Industry

Dakar, Senegal – Senegal, 2018: The mining industry of Western Africa has surpassed its southern counterpart as the new haven for investment, with Senegal being one of the leading nations in the thriving economy. The country, itself is on the brink of a major mining boom. SIM Senegal, now in its 5th edition is a well-established event, providing a resilient platform for the West African mining community featuring the key public and private sector decision makers of the region. It is the only mining events supported by the Senegalese government. Theme for this year’s event is “Geology and Mines, factors of Progress and Employment in an Emerging Senegal.”

The launch press conference is being hosted on Tuesday, the 18th September 2018 at Radisson Blu Hotel, Dakar. The press conference is intended to set the tone for activities and preparations towards a successful conference and exhibition through the acknowledgement of the roles of various stakeholders, including state institutions, the private sector, civil society organisations and the media.

Organised by the Ministry of Mines and Geology, Republic of Senegal in association with AME trade, the 5th Senegal International Mining Conference & Exhibition is the only event supported by the government of Senegal dedicated to expanding the country’s mining sector, providing unparalleled insight into Senegal’s new mining code and development plans.
