Symposium Mines Guinea is now established as the largest mining event currently organised in West Africa.

In 2017, the event attracted over 700 delegates, 70 exhibitors and over 3000 visitors, emanating from over 30 countries.

Symposium Mines Guinea has been organised on a biannual basis since 2004 (Bel Air, Boffa, Guinea), 2006 (Dusseldorf, Germany), 2008, 2011 and 2017 (Conakry, Guinea).

SMG 2019 will be the 6th edition of the event.

By organising Symposium Mines Guinea, the Government of the Republic of Guinea are proving that they are putting their policy of promoting Guinea as an attractive and ideal mining investment destination into practise by:

  • Developing mining projects with a focus on minerals resisting to the market downturn;
  • Attracting new investors for a better assessment of the country’s mineral deposits through Public-Private Partnerships
  • Supporting and diversifying the development of mining projects

The Objectives SMG Conference are to:

  • Inform stakeholders of the reforms that has been implemented to facilitate investment in the mining sector
  • Identify innovative financing solutions which can be applied to both large and small-scale mining projects and services
  • Design an interconnected infrastructure plan to benefit mining projects and the national economy as a whole
  • Improve both the quality and access to data relating to Guinea’s geological infrastructure
  • Reflect on a winning strategy to guarantee maintains its place as a world leading bauxite producer

  • Create linkages between the mining sector and other sectors to stimulate diverse economic activities.
