The Suriname International Mining, Energy & Petroleum Conference & Exhibition (SURIMEP 2017) will be back for its second edition from 1- 3 November 2017, in Paramaribo, Suriname, at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KKF) Hall.
This three-day event, organised by the Ministry of Natural Resources in association with AME Trade, attracts key industry stakeholders such as investors, energy, mining and petroleum companies and government representatives, and will focus on the most recent industry insights, news, developments, trends and current and future opportunities available within the sectors emphasising the theme “Optimising Resource Industry Linkages to Catalyse Suriname’s Economic Development”. Substantial mining growth has been shown in the South American region, with Merian Mine in Suriname having just poured its first gold. Merian contains gold reserves of 5.1 million ounces and production is expected to average between 400,000oz and 500,000oz per annum. The discovery of oil in the Guyana-Suriname basin is also a significant event with an estimation of a potential 14.2 billion barrels of oil.
SURIMEP 2017 will integrate these and many other focused topics into the programme which will also involve knowledge sharing sessions and presentations from the area’s most prominent organisations.
