Ian Yhap is currently CEO of Cape Resources, Inc., a Liberia based electricity planning, design and construction company and Advisor to the Liberian Ministry of Lands, Mines and Energy.
He holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, Illinois and postgraduate certification in Computer Science from the University of Central Lancashire, UK.
He was Managing Director of the Liberia Electricity Corporation and was instrumental in the completion of a post-war Master Energy Recovery and Development Plan for Liberia, articulating and promoting the total development of the St. Paul River hydro potential as Liberia’s long term energy objective while presiding over the policy implementation of the country-wide frequency and voltage conversion as a first step to achieving regional cooperation in energy distribution and sales. As Chairman of the Board of Directors, he guided LEC’s policy through its emergence to sustainability.
As partner in Alexus-Nextgen Inc., a Nigerian-Canadian Consortium, he was involved in the reengineering, rehabilitation and management of local Nigerian manufacturing plants.
He co-founded the California based software development company, Support Technologies, Inc. and directed the development of the Alexus Maintenance System which has positively impacted and continues to impact the revenue streams of a number of municipalities and fortune 500 companies in the USA.
Cape Resources, Inc. continues today to promote the concept of renewable energy as a tool for poverty alleviation and sustainable living in Liberia and West Africa and advocates this inclusion in local and national forums and programs. Cape also works to synchronize energy sector implementation programs with the national development goals.
