ZIMEC virtual pre-conference took place on the 26th of May 2021, and focused on fiscal regimes and regulation in Zambia, aiming at boosting investment, recovery and growth in the mining and energy sectors. The 9th edition of the Mali Mining and Petroleum Conference and Exhibition (JMP 2021) took place from 16 – 18 November 2021, in the Republic of Mali. The event is organised by the Ministry of Mines, Energy & Water, Mali in association with AME Trade Ltd, United Kingdom. JMP is already an established event in the global mining & petroleum industry calendar and one of the biggest events.
Under the theme "Local content development: challenges, perspectives & role of the state", the event will feature 2 days of a dedicated Conference, which will highlight the geological potential, investment framework and potential business opportunities in the country; Networking events, which will create business contacts in a social environment; and a Technology and Project Exhibition concurrent to the Conference to allow exploration and production companies as well as service providers to promote their products and services.
The 6th edition of SIM Senegal took place at the Hotel King Fahd Palace in Dakar on 02 - 04 November 2021, which was organised by the Senegalese Ministry of Mines & Geology in association with AME Trade Ltd. SIM Senegal attracted a unique and diverse range of mining investors in finance, services, exploration & production and institutional industries, representing both public and private sectors from 30 countries.
This year, SIM Senegal was able to gather over 900 attendees from 35 countries and featuring 80 exhibition stands as well as 22 sponsors. These numbers displays the importance of this event and its impact on the West African mining sector.
Under the theme “Promotion and development of Local Content, a lever for the for the optimization of socio-economic benefits in the extractive sector”, during the two-day conference, SIM Senegal 2021 showcased the Ministry’s strategy on the mining sector and concentrated on new developments and investment for further growth and expansion of the Senegalese mining sector.

IsDB training was under the theme: “Enhancing Understanding of Public Private Partnership – Helping Governments Build Resilient Infrastructure”. It was designed for senior representatives from government ministries and agencies from the member countries of the Islamic Development Bank. It was a rare opportunity for government PPP agencies to meet and collectively define best practices. Standard Bank along with the Ministry of Economy and Planning of Angola, hosted the webinar 'Economic diversification dialogues: Public-Private Partnerships in Angola' on the 28th of April 2021.
As a way of promoting the diversification of the Angolan economy and less reliance on government debt, the Standard Bank team along with the Ministry of Economy and Planning organised a webinar focused on Public-Private Partnerships (“PPPs”).
The programme was designed to address the main benefits for Angola in using PPPs to implement infrastructure projects, main challenges given the country context and current macroeconomic backdrop, the regulatory framework, and the role of the Government and financial institutions.

To advance the interest of ABR members and other financiers & investors, the ABR secretariat has identified a number of viable projects that require funding and are running series of webinars to promote and profile these pre-selected “Oven ready” projects for funding. High-level ABR members with bankable projects already engaged with international investors in July, September and organised it again on the 10th of March 2021 for their final and third webinar. They presented all of the new project scope, objectives, key highlights, sector, location and activities. Attendees had the opportunity to discover the project timelines and cost, as well as the project status, risks and opportunities.

The 12th edition of Africa PPP, Infrastructure Investment Partnerships Conference was online on 1-2 December, under the theme: “Partnering on public infrastructure projects for sustainable development and economic growth”.
