Zambia’s mining and energy sectors took centre stage once again at the 12th Zambia International Mining and Energy Conference and Exhibition (ZIMEC), held for the third time in the Copperbelt region. The event was hosted under the High Patronage of His Excellency Hakainde Hichilema, President of the Republic of Zambia.
ZIMEC 2025 remains Zambia’s most established mining and energy industry gathering, bringing together national, regional and international stakeholders. The 2024 edition attracted over 400 participants from 20 countries and 75 speakers, including government leaders, investors, corporate executives, and thought leaders. Over two days, discussions and networking addressed pressing challenges and opportunities for Zambia’s energy and mining future.
The event was co-organised by the Ministry of Mines and Minerals Development, Ministry of Energy, Zambia Development Agency, and AZMEC (Association of Zambian Mineral Exploration Companies), alongside AME Trade Ltd.

“Promoting Equitable Investment Partnerships, Intra-Regional Mineral Value Chains & Renewable Energy to Catalyse Zambia’s Sustainable Economic Growth”
The agenda covered:
- Progressive reforms for an attractive investment climate
- Development of electric vehicle battery value chains
- Renewable energy investment and Zambia’s ambition to be a regional hub
- Diversification within the mining sector
- Infrastructure projects such as the Lobito and TAZARA railways
- Green bond financing and off-taker guarantee systems
